Warriors of the Deep Part 4

The Doctor and his companions must stop the Silurians and Sea Devils from launching a missile that will trigger a war to destroy humanity, while navigating their own conflicts and moral dilemmas.

In this episode, the Doctor and his companions, Tegan, Turlough, Bulic, and Preston, find themselves on a Sea Base where they encounter the Silurians and Sea Devils. The Silurians, led by Ichtar, plan to launch a missile that will trigger a war between humans, allowing the Silurians and Sea Devils to survive in deep hibernation and eventually reclaim the Earth. The Doctor attempts to reason with Ichtar, but is met with resistance. As the Silurians prepare to launch the missile, the Doctor and his companions work to stop them, using hexachromite gas to disable the Sea Devils and attempting to abort the missile launch. The Doctor faces a moral dilemma, choosing not to kill the Silurians and Sea Devils, but instead to find an alternative solution. With the help of Commander Vorshak, the Doctor manages to synchronise his mind with the computer and successfully abort the launch, saving humanity from destruction.

Act 1

The Doctor and Tegan are brought before Ichtar, the Silurian leader, who reveals his plan to launch missiles that will trigger a global human war, allowing the Silurians and Sea Devils to survive in deep hibernation and eventually reclaim Earth. The Doctor, recognizing Ichtar from a past encounter, attempts to reason with him, appealing to the Silurian's former peaceful ideals, but Ichtar remains resolute, citing past human betrayals as justification for this 'final solution.' Meanwhile, Tegan, Turlough, Bulic, and Preston escape their confinement and work to assist the Doctor. The Doctor discovers that hexachromite gas is lethal to reptile life. Initially, he resists using it, seeking a non-lethal method to disable the invaders. However, as the missile launch becomes imminent, and after Preston is killed by a Sea Devil, the Doctor makes the difficult decision to deploy the hexachromite gas throughout the base to incapacitate the Silurians and Sea Devils. He then races to the bridge to try and abort the launch directly, facing a moral dilemma between preserving life and preventing global catastrophe. With the base filling with gas and the Silurians and Sea Devils collapsing, the Doctor, guided by the dying Commander Vorshak, synchronizes his mind with the computer to abort the missile launch, successfully preventing humanity's destruction but at a significant personal cost and with the tragic loss of all the Silurians and Sea Devils.
