The Awakening Part 1

When the Doctor and his companions Tegan and Turlough arrive in 1984 Little Hodcombe, they find the village trapped in a 17th-century Civil War reenactment with sinister implications.

The Doctor, Tegan, and Turlough materialize in Little Hodcombe, Dorset, but find themselves caught in a strange anomaly where 1984 and 1643 have merged. The village is reenacting the English Civil War, led by Sir George Hutchinson. Tegan's grandfather, Andrew Verney, has disappeared, and she seeks his help to find him. As they navigate the village, they uncover a dark plot to crown Tegan as the Queen of the May, a tradition with a sinister ending. The Doctor must unravel the mystery behind the time anomaly and the sinister forces at play before it's too late. Along the way, they encounter Will Chandler, a local boy who has witnessed the events of 1643 and holds key information about the Malus, a supernatural entity that exacerbates the conflict. As tensions escalate, the Doctor and his companions must prevent a catastrophic confrontation between the past and present.

Act 1

The Doctor, Tegan, and Turlough arrive in Little Hodcombe, a village seemingly trapped in a 17th-century Civil War reenactment led by the authoritative Sir George Hutchinson. Jane Hampden, a local school teacher, voices concerns about the escalating 'war games' and the village's isolation. The companions quickly discover a temporal anomaly: 1984 and 1643 elements coexist, and a mysterious figure moves through the rubble of a crypt. Tegan reveals her grandfather, Andrew Verney, has disappeared, further entangling them in the village's strange events. After Hutchinson's men capture them, the Doctor is detained, while Tegan runs off, only to be confronted by a ghostly apparition and have her bag stolen, establishing immediate peril and the unfolding mystery.

Act 2

Following Tegan's unsettling encounter, the Doctor begins to investigate the temporal anomaly, encountering Will Chandler, a local boy who believes it is 1643 and speaks of a malevolent entity called the 'Malus' that exacerbates conflict. The Doctor deduces the presence of psychic projections and an alien power source. Meanwhile, Hutchinson's true intentions for Tegan are revealed: she is to be crowned the 'Queen of the May,' a tradition Jane Hampden warns has a dark, sacrificial ending. As the Doctor uncovers a secret passage and identifies 'tinclavic,' an alien metal, Tegan is recaptured by Hutchinson's men and forcibly dressed in the ceremonial costume, cementing her role as the unwitting central figure in Hutchinson's sinister plan and placing her in immediate, grave danger.
