As the Doctor and his allies navigate a complex web of time and space, they must prevent Morgaine from summoning the Destroyer and stop a battle between UNIT and Morgaine's troops.

The narrative begins with the Doctor and Ace materializing in a spacecraft, where Ace is ejected through an escape hatch. Meanwhile, in a dig site, Warmsly gives Ancelyn a tour of the site, discussing the legend of King Arthur and Excalibur. As they speak, Ace emerges from a lake, holding Excalibur. The Brigadier and Shou arrive, and they all converge to prevent Morgaine's plans from unfolding. Morgaine, with the help of Mordred, seeks to summon the Destroyer and use Excalibur to control a spaceship. The Doctor, Brigadier, and their allies embark on a perilous journey to stop Morgaine, encountering various obstacles, including knights, UNIT troops, and treacherous terrain. Along the way, the Doctor reveals that Excalibur is a vital control element to the spaceship under the lake and that it's the source of Arthur's power. As tensions escalate, the Doctor, Brigadier, and Ace work together to thwart Morgaine's plans and prevent a catastrophic battle. In the climax, Morgaine attempts to summon the Destroyer, but the Doctor and his allies intervene, ultimately preventing the destruction of the world.

Act 1

The Doctor finds himself in peril aboard a spacecraft, from which Ace is dramatically ejected. She emerges from a lake, clutching the legendary Excalibur, igniting a series of rapid introductions and reunions. Warmsly and Ancelyn discuss Arthurian myths at the dig site, while the Brigadier and Shou arrive, and Bambera, a fellow Brigadier, asserts her authority. The Brigadier rescues the Doctor, re-establishing their long-standing partnership amidst the unfolding chaos. Concurrently, Morgaine and Mordred are introduced at a hotel. Morgaine chillingly demonstrates her formidable magical power by disintegrating a UNIT officer, Lavel, and restoring the sight of the blind Elizabeth, solidifying her status as a potent threat. Morgaine dispatches her knights to retrieve Excalibur, leading to the first direct confrontation with the Doctor's allies. The Doctor, Brigadier, Ace, Shou, and Warmsly evade the knights in a Range Rover, while Bambera and Ancelyn engage them in a Citroen 2CV. Back at the hotel, UNIT establishes a base, and the Brigadier proudly displays UNIT's advanced, specialized weaponry, preparing for a full-scale conflict. Ace and Shou, having recovered Excalibur, deduce its true nature as a control element for a submerged spaceship, providing critical insight into Morgaine's ultimate objective. The act culminates with the Brigadier learning that Bambera and Ancelyn are alive and heading towards a nuclear missile convoy, prompting the Doctor and Brigadier to depart in Bessie, the Doctor's iconic car, to intercept them. Before leaving, the Doctor entrusts Ace with a piece of chalk, instructing her to draw a protective circle around herself, Shou, and Excalibur, isolating them for a crucial defensive role. This departure marks a significant shift, leaving Ace and Shou vulnerable and central to a new, more mystical threat.

Act 2

Multiple narrative threads intensify after the Doctor and Brigadier depart in Bessie. The Doctor and Brigadier race against time to intercept Bambera and Ancelyn, hoping to prevent a catastrophic engagement involving a nuclear missile convoy. They remain unaware that the true, more insidious threat unfolds elsewhere. Concurrently, Morgaine, utilizing her crystal ball, scries upon Ace and Shou, now isolated at the Gore Crow Hotel, guarding Excalibur within the Doctor's chalk circle. Morgaine unleashes a potent psychological attack, manipulating their minds and driving them to turn on each other with venomous insults and accusations. This internal conflict pushes them to the very edge of the protective circle, almost breaking the Doctor's crucial instruction to remain within its bounds, before they realize they are being played. This sequence highlights the vulnerability of the younger companions and the insidious nature of Morgaine's sorcery, which targets minds as well as bodies. Simultaneously, a full-scale battle erupts at the dig site, pitting UNIT forces against Morgaine's knights. The fighting is fierce and chaotic, with Bambera and Ancelyn demonstrating their combat prowess and leadership under fire. Ancelyn, driven by personal animosity, directly challenges Mordred, accusing him of cowardice. The Doctor, arriving in Bessie with the Brigadier, intervenes directly in the melee, attempting to halt the bloodshed with a simple command. However, Mordred, in a pivotal and shocking revelation, dismisses the battle as a mere "ruse, a diversion." He declares his mother, Morgaine, has already begun summoning the Destroyer, the "Lord of Darkness, Eater of Worlds," confirming that the immediate military conflict was a distraction from a far greater, existential threat. This revelation dramatically recontextualizes all preceding events, exposing the true stakes and the Doctor's grave miscalculation in leaving Ace vulnerable.
